Multimedia desk While signing the Reliance Jio's Summer Surprise Offer, where the
Telecom Regulatory Commission has asked to withdraw, saying an illegal
online service, in lieu of cheap internet service, signatures are being
conducted through an online petition.
So far 65000 people have signed in favor of online petition on change.org. This online petition has been started by Amit Bhawani, an IT engineer from Hyderabad. On the day of TRAI's order (April 7th) in the petition, it is said to be a dark day for Digital India.
Significantly, Reliance Jio had increased the deadline of Prime Membership on April 15, to March 31. With this it was announced that the summer surprise offer, under which
Rs 99 for the prime membership and the 303 rupees recharge, the company
was supposed to provide free services to its users for three months
i.e. April to June.
TRAI, however, objected to this offer and asked to withdraw it from the company. Though the TRAI's order has made the rival companies happy, but the Geo consumers have become unhappy.
In
his petition, Bhawani said that Indian consumers have won the battle
against Net Nutrilia, but we are losing in the battle of getting the
internet available at cheap rates. He said that TRAI orders have disappointed common consumers.
The petitioner said that there is no sympathy for my Riyalayo ji nor I
am lobbying for Reliance Jio, but I am against the order of TRAI that
is hampering the availability of affordable internet services.
